Set up a vendor for ACH payments
Switch a vendor from paper checks to electronic (ACH) payments. Do this once per vendor you want to pay electronically.
Switch a vendor from paper checks to electronic (ACH) payments. Do this once per vendor you want to pay electronically.
Where: Accounts Payable → Add/Edit Vendors → the vendor's Payment Bank Information
Before you start
- The vendor must already exist — see Add or edit a vendor.
- Your bank must be set up for ACH first — see Set up your bank for ACH transfers.
- This is part of the larger Set up ACH vendor payments workflow.
Good to know
Every vendor's Payment Bank Information defaults to Check. If you're happy paying a vendor by check, there's nothing to do here — skip this article. Only follow these steps for vendors you want to pay by ACH.
Steps
1. Open the vendor in Add/Edit Vendors and find Payment Bank Information.
2. Click the Check radio button first, then click the ACH radio button.

3. With ACH selected, you can now choose the Bank this vendor will be paid from. Pick the bank you set up in Set up your bank for ACH transfers.

> Screenshot needed: The vendor's ACH detail fields (vendor's routing/account number entry), if separate from the bank selection above. (no clear screenshot in the source — please capture if these fields are filled here.)
4. Click Close / Save on the ribbon toolbar.
> ⚠️ Important: This step must be finished before you try to send any ACH payment to this vendor.
→ Next step: Repeat for each ACH vendor, then pay vendors by ACH or wire.
