Steps
1. Open Accounts Payable → Add/Edit Vendors and click Add (or Edit to change an existing vendor).
2. Enter the vendor's name and address.
3. Set the city. Start typing the city name, or click the drop-down arrow to open the Select the City list.
- If the city isn't on the list yet, double-click the blank field above the existing list — this puts you in Add mode. Type the city name, click Save, then Exit. You can now pick it from the list.

4. Open the Accounting tab (right side of the screen) and set this vendor's defaults:
- Default Debit G/L — the appropriation account you most often charge this vendor to (e.g., `600.1` for Fund 1 / General Fund A, `600.3` for Fund 3 / General Fund DA).
- Default Credit G/L — the A/P accrual account. (Reminder: `600` is the accounts-payable accrual account.)
> Note: If you set both defaults, make sure they're in the same fund. These are optional — you can also pick accounts when entering each invoice.
5. If this is a 1099 supplier, set Required 1099 (on the Accounting tab) to Yes.

> ⚠️ Don't skip this. If Required 1099 is left on No, this vendor won't be included when you produce 1099 forms.
6. Click Save / Close on the ribbon toolbar.
→ Next step: Paying this vendor electronically? Continue to Set up a vendor for ACH payments. Otherwise you're ready to enter an invoice.
